Getting to Jamaica is simple and easy. There are a wide range of international airlines that offer daily flights to and from Jamaica from major cities around the world. Jamaica currently has two international airports, one in Kingston, and one in Montego Bay. Green Castle Estate is strategically located 90 minutes from Kingston’s Norman Manley Airport (KIN) and 2.5 hours from Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ). In addition to frequent commercial flights, both airports offer private aircraft and ground handling services. Additionally, the Boscobel Aerodrome, 20 minutes from Green Castle Estate, provides domestic charters.

Getting to Green Castle

Green Castle staff will be happy to arrange transportation to and from either airport. One of the most widely used transporters is the Jamaica Union of Travelers Association, more commonly known as JUTA. JUTA drivers are licensed by the Jamaica Tourist Board to support guests coming to the island. We use their services to be sure you have a safe and comfortable trip to Green Castle. Transportation to and from Kingston is approximately $110 US each way and Montego Bay is $150 each way for groups up to 4.

If you are looking for a little adventure, Island Hopper Helicopter can take you directly from either airport to the Estate House lawn by helicopter. It is an amazing experience with beautiful scenery and it certainly creates a dramatic beginning or ending to your Green Castle visit. Current prices each way are $914 US from Kingston and $1,501 from Montego Bay for up to 4 persons.

 

Rental Cars, Self-Hire and Taxis

Once you are in Jamaica there are a number of ways to get around. You can rent a car in Kingston, Ocho Rios or Montego Bay through international rental agencies, or you can leave the driving to an expert and hire a taxi with a driver. Driving in Jamaica is not for the inexperienced. Jamaica is left lane driving like the UK, and has a unique set of rules that can be challenging to master in a short visit. Prices for daily taxi rental with a driver vary based on distance and time, but generally a full day of travel will cost $120 to $150 US, and the drivers are friendly and informal guides as well. Green Castle staff will be happy to make transportation arrangements to suite your interests and plans. Come relax and enjoy, and we will take care of the details.

Driving Directions

For our local residents and self-driving guests, Green Castle is located on the North Coast of Jamaica in the small village of Robins Bay. We are 3 miles west of Annotto Bay, an hour east of Ocho Rios and an hour west of Port Antonio. Kingston is one hour to the south.

Driving to Green Castle from Kingston:

Take Junction Road north (Constant Spring Rd turns into Junction north of Manor Park) to the North Coast Highway. When you arrive at the North Coast Highway, take the round about to the west towards Port Maria/Ocho Rios. Approximately three miles further turn right onto the Robins Bay road. The road will be obvious by a large sign with Robins Bay Beach and Village Resort and a brightly colored bus stop with Strawberry Fields Forever. You will continue on this road for approximately two miles. Go PAST the Greencastle Estate Sign to the next dirt road called Tower Rd. Take a left. The Estate House is 1.8 miles up Tower Road. The Estate House has a chain link gate with a Green Castle Estate House sign. Drive is approximately 1 hour.

Driving to Green Castle from Montego Bay:

Take the North Coast Highway east from Montego Bay passing through Falmouth, St. Ann’s Bay , Ocho Rios and Port Maria towards Annotto Bay. Three miles before Annotto Bay, you will turn left at the Robins Bay road. The road will be obvious by a large sign with Robins Bay Beach and Village Resort and a brightly colored bus stop with Strawberry Fields Forever. You will continue on this road for approximately two miles. Go PAST the Greencastle Estate Sign to the next dirt/gravel road called Tower Rd. Take a left. The Estate House is 1.8 miles up Tower Road. The Estate House has a chain link gate with a Green Castle Estate House sign. Drive is approximately 2.5 hours.
